Why is digital marketing important?

Digital marketing offers all kinds of opportunities for businesses to engage and connect with their audience, build brand awareness and cultivate a sense of community.

Businesses must have a clear understanding of their target audience in order to develop effective brand messaging.

“Every business needs to consider its digital outputs,” says Lynsey. “Having an effective strategy not only means that you will resonate with your audiences, but it also optimises your time, saves you wasting money and resources, and gets the best out of your brand and your audience.”

Branding and messaging

Students on our Digital Marketing Strategy Online Short Course learn how to create an effective marketing campaign.

The course covers all the key elements of digital marketing, from branding and messaging to content marketing, social media, UX and SEO.

“The course starts with understanding your audience and brand, and builds through to looking at social media, public relations, events, email and all the various different elements of content production,” Lynsey explains.

“It ends with understanding the back end, so looking at search engine optimisation, user experience, analytics and measuring success,” says Lynsey.

Course outcomes

By the end of the course, students should have a clear understanding of their audience and be able to develop brand messaging and guidelines. They will also understand the basics of UX and SEO and know how to plan engaging content for their brand.

“Students will come out of this with a really full picture of how to build their strategy and how best to reach and engage with their intended audiences,” says Lynsey. “They’ll also have the confidence to explore and create content, trial new things and discuss what works.”

“Students will have a really good idea of how they should use their time and resources to get the optimal experience,” she says.
