In 1660, Charles II was reinstated on the English throne, 11 years after his father had been beheaded. His reign saw not only the return of the monarchy, but a new style of dress for men that made a break with the old to create a new, more streamlined silhouette that has been hailed as the forerunner to the modern three-piece suit.

Join fashion historian Amber Butchart as she discusses the place of the Restoration king in the history of fashion, as well as how he was represented in art, and the journey of recreating the suit in her TV series A Stitch in Time.
