Summer Study Abroad
Our Summer Study Abroad programme is ideal for students who are looking for high-quality, short-term courses.
The programme provides an intensive experience of practical projects, tutorials and workshops, with many courses featuring visits to places of interest in London and beyond.
We offer courses for students who have completed a year of undergraduate-level study in their specialist area, as well as those with little or no experience.

Level of study
Summer Study Abroad is suitable for students who have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate-level study.
Level of English
The equivalent of IELTS 5.0 or above is required.
Record of Study
At the end of your course, we will provide a record of study with the grades you have achieved for each unit and their equivalent US credit value.
To earn credit for your Summer Study Abroad course, please check that your home institution will award external credit before you travel to London.
Financial aid and scholarships

Summer Study Abroad students have the option to reserve a space in 1 of UAL's halls of residence. Although UAL Study Abroad and Accommodation endeavour to provide students with suitable UAL accommodation, space is limited and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is advantageous for students to book their summer accommodation as soon as they receive their offer letter; however, students will only receive the discounted rate once they receive an unconditional offer from the central UAL Study Abroad team. For more details about the discounted rate, please refer to the conditional offer letter.

3D Design and Product Design
Animation, Interactive, Film and Sound
This exciting, hands-on course is designed to give you a playful, creative experience whilst developing your animation portfolio. The course focuses on Principles of Animation and Visual Narrative. You'll leave with your own short animated film.
Learn how to produce your own short film, shot here in London. You will go from the basics of filmmaking to producing and editing on an intensive, hands-on course. It is suitable for those who want to learn either dramatic or documentary filmmaking.
Gain understanding of the rules and logic of games and how these can be developed through programming into engaging games. Covering 3D modelling software and physical games you'll leave the course with a playable prototype.
Architecture, Interior and Spatial Design
Explore architecture and urban planning through London's history and by designing an architectural intervention in the city.
Creative exercises and workshops lead you through the basics of interior design, and process to completing a finished project.
This study abroad course will give you the opportunity to explore the creative possibilities explored on the BA Interior and Spatial Design (BAISD) degree programme.
Communication and Graphic Design
Take inspiration from London, one of the most visually stimulating cities in the world. Through visual research and exploration you will examine the function of typography, layout and basic design principles, letterpress, screen printing, risograph printing, digital filmmaking and the relationship between print and digital media.

The Theatre and Screen Design Summer Study Abroad programme at Chelsea College of Arts is designed to challenge students to develop investigative and forward-thinking approaches to their art practices. Visit Harry Potter Studios as part of your learning.
This course is ideal for you if you want to built a DSLR photography portfolio for work or study. Explore the street portraiture, studio portraiture and the urban landscape of London and present your ideas with confidence.
Research and develop a project conceptually as well as practically. Learn how to present and promote your work to an outside audience on this course taught through a mix of workshops, seminars, tutorials and critiques. You will work in one of our industry standard studios and out on location, and leave with a portfolio that reflects your manifesto.

Students take part in practical studio and workshop sessions, giving them a unique insight into contemporary textile design for fashion and interiors.
