Our halls have staff on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help you feel safe and supported throughout your time in halls.

Residence Managers

Every hall has either a Residence Manager or an Accommodation Manager who manages the on-site team.

They are responsible for:

  • managing the building day to day
  • making sure tenancy agreements are followed
  • dealing with any welfare issues
  • addressing social issues if hall rules are broken
  • helping with any queries that you may have – no matter how big or small.

When you arrive, you will receive their contact details. You can contact them by phone, email or in person to discuss any queries or concerns.

Out of hours support

Every UAL hall is supported by our dedicated out of hours Residence Management team who supervise all the sites at night, bank holidays and weekends.

You can always report concerns to a member of staff at your hall reception disk or use your hall's 24/7 telephone number for immediate welfare, safety or social concerns.

Halls Life

Halls Life is UAL’s award-winning student residence life programme, designed to make your hall more than just a place to sleep, but a creative, social and supportive home away from home.

At the centre of it all is the Halls Life team who are here throughout the year to run regular events and activities for our residents. This includes:

  • pop-up food festivals
  • arts and crafts nights
  • cultural celebrations
  • themed parties and games
  • relaxing wellbeing sessions, workshops and resources
  • low cost theatre or UK day trips.

In many of our halls, there is also a Halls Life committee. The committee members are students who live and work in the halls who help organise events and wellbeing activities with the Halls Life team. For more information about how to apply for a committee role, email the team at: hallslife@arts.ac.uk

Our dedicated Halls Life website (opens in new tab) provides all the information that our residents need to know throughout their stay in halls. Look out for:

  • Hall Guide
  • wellbeing resources and signposting
  • full events and activities schedule
  • London life hacks
  • local insider tips
  • vlog and blogs by fellow students
  • recipes
  • resources.

The events and freebies round the year were helpful and the support and check-ins during the holidays were super helpful too! They’re warm and approachable too!
