Booking a room in halls

  • You must be an enrolled UAL student.
  • You may need to wait up to 72 hours after accepting your offer at UAL before you can log in to the accommodation portal.

Bookings are still open for 2025/26 and will remain so throughout the academic year.

Our room availability is limited and changes quickly, so check the accommodation portal for updates (opens in new tab).

If you would like to live in halls from September 2026, room bookings will open in stages, depending on your student status.

  • Wednesday 8 April 2026 – Bookings open for current UAL students who would like to live in halls for the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Wednesday 22 April 2026 – Bookings open for students who have firmly accepted an unconditional or conditional offer to study at UAL for 2026/27, including those who deferred their offer in 2025/26.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2026 – Bookings open for all students who have received an offer to study at UAL for 2026/27.

Starting a full-time course at UAL as an international student outside of the EU? You're guaranteed accommodation if you book by Friday 15 May 2026.

1. Create your account in the student accommodation portal

Create your account using your 8 digit student ID number from your offer letter.

2. Explore your hall options

Before you book, research the halls and room types so you’re ready to make your choice.

To visit one of our UAL halls of residence in person, register to attend a UAL Halls Tour.

Some students can book directly online. Rooms are limited and may not always be available.

The following students must give their top 5 preferences instead:

  • Study Abroad or Exchange students
  • Students with access needs or health conditions.

You can find details of the halls we manage and our available partner halls on rent, insurance and contracts.

3. Choose your room

  • Log in to the student accommodation portal.
  • Select your hall and room from the available options.
  • Add your details and payment information.

Rooms are held for 2 hours before being released. If time runs out, you can try again but the same room may not be available.

Be ready with:

  • your preferred halls and rooms
  • personal details
  • payment method for your deposit.

4. Confirm your booking

University managed halls

  • You’ll need to pay a £500 deposit (£250 advance rent and £250 damage deposit).
  • You’ll need to confirm your booking by accepting the terms and conditions.

Partner halls

  • Partner halls manage their own bookings.
  • You’ll get booking instructions directly from the provider by email and a deadline to book.

Students with preferences

  • You’ll get an offer and 48 hours to accept the booking.
  • We look at applications in the order we get them.
  • We will try to give you one of your choices. We cannot promise this as some options may be full.

We prioritise:

  • students who have told us about a disability or health condition in their application
  • students who will be under 18 when their tenancy starts.

Can’t accept your room offer in time? Get in touch with the Accommodation Services team at accommodation@arts.ac.uk.

University managed halls

  • Cancel your booking through the student accommodation portal before the tenancy start date.
  • Charges may apply depending on when you request the cancellation.

Partner halls

  • Check your tenancy agreement for their cancellation policy.
  • The cancellation process will be different from UAL managed halls.

If you have a disability or health condition, tell us when you apply through the student accommodation portal. You can also request any support or room adjustments you need.

After you tell us your disability or health condition:

  • you won't book a room directly
  • instead, you’ll be need to provide your top 5 hall choices
  • we'll contact you by email with an offer for a room that best matches your needs.
