The London Street Style Fashion Subcultural Icons Short Course is a fashion communication course delivered by tutor, Clare Spencer.

Clare is also the founder of FATE: Fashion and Textiles Education Archive, a professional resource which is used by the fashion, feature film, TV and performing arts industries and universities. Here Clare delves deeper into what the course covers and we get to see what students get up to during this inspiring course.

“This course is as unconventional as its topic.”

The course allows students to become immersive in London’s fashion subcultures as well as meet club owners and artists in their worlds. We encourage an unconventional interdisciplinary approach, from theory to hands-on clothing analysis, project workshops and visits by creatives of street style subcultures. This course is as unconventional as its topic.

The course covers fashion theory and history, hands-on clothing analysis, accessing FATE: Fashion and Textiles Education Archive’s garments and textiles, project workshops and external visits to studios and fashion resources.

Ultimately the course gives you the skills to create a subversive portfolio representing your personal tastes and identity as a fashion designer in 2D-3D design.
