Svetlana Kutnyak is an Interior Designer who studied with us at Chelsea College of Arts. She and 7 other past short course students are exhibiting in Dezeen’s Virtual Design Festival’s Student Show. Read on to learn about her background and journey to becoming an Interior Designer.

What is your occupational background?
I have worked in IT for 8 years, mostly as a Quality Assurance engineer. I have been studying Interior Design for two years prior to moving to the UK.

How have you become interested in Interior Design?
Three years ago I decided to follow my dream of becoming an interior designer and I have been studying it since. I have taken courses in Russia and decided to continue my education in London.

I chose Interior Design - Module Two at Chelsea College of Arts as I had some previous background in Interior Design I decided that I can skip Module One in this case.

What did you enjoy most about your course?
I like how many different things we created during this course: the paper models, concept and sample boards, rendered plans, sketches and even external elevations.

How has this experience benefitted your career and personal development?
This course helped me to feel more confident in Interior design. I can see my skill increasing and my creative works look much better now.
