We catch up with The Complete Makeup Artist student Holly Hilton to get an insight into her time on the course.
Before taking The Complete Makeup Artist course what were your makeup skills/ experience?
Makeup has been a HUGE hobby of mine over the past 15 years, completely self-taught through YouTube, tutorials and lots of practice.
What specifically about the course drew you in initially?
My passion is makeup and I really wanted to have the experience of a course, structure and learning different parts of makeup that I didn’t have experience in.
What did The Complete Makeup Artist course offer that other makeup courses didn’t?
I wanted to do my course at a really reputable school and that’s what London College of Fashion is.
What advice would you give to someone who may be interested in the course?
Absolutely go for it, the confidence and new skill sets it’s given me is the boost I really needed, and for that its priceless.
What did you find most challenging about the course?
I wouldn’t necessarily say challenging but certainly, winged eyeliner had me holding my breath!
What skills have you taken away from the course that you have found to be invaluable?
How important to you was working with tutors that also work in the industry?
The most important! Ellie, Claudia and Hailey were not only amazing teachers but they were real, straight to the point and really gave us a good taste of what to expect and how to move forward in our careers - amazing tutors.
On reflection what is your favourite memory of being on the course?
Learning all the different variations of makeup was SO much fun, also meeting like-minded individuals with who I have remained pals.
Since finishing the course what are your plans for the future?
Since finishing at LCF I have assisted on an ITV shoot, I’ve worked for a private M&S event and also had private and bridal clients. This course gave me so much strength in myself and I wish I could do it all over again!
