Student Stories: Nick Palmer, Making Latex Clothes

We recently ran a brand new weekend course, Introduction to Making Latex Clothes Weekend taught by the wonderful Nick Jones who runs his own label, Tainted Love. After the course, we caught up with MA Fashion graduate, Nick Palmer, to find out about his experience.

What is your name and where are you from?

Nick Palmer. I have been living in London since 2016 when I moved here from New York to attend the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, which I graduated from last spring.

What is your occupation?

I am a menswear designer.

What short course did you attend and why did you choose it?

I picked Introduction to Making Latex Clothes Weekend; I thought it would be fun and something new to try that I could use in my own work.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

Learning new skills in a single weekend is pretty great!

Has this course benefited your career or personal development?

We shall see; but I am incredibly happy with the way my final garment, made over the two days, turned out.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about taking a short course at CSM?

Do it. What do you have to lose?

What do you believe is integral to the work of an artist, in any discipline?

An open mind and to have an interest in everything.
