Melissa Haro

Where are you from and what's your favourite thing about it?

I'm from Portugal and my favourite thing about it is definitely the people. Portuguese people are always, or most of the time, friendly and ready to help.

What is your occupation?

At the moment I work as a Producer in an advertising films company based in Lisbon.

What short course did you study upon at Central Saint Martins (CSM)?

I attended the Interior Styling for Editorial and PR short course earlier this year, in March.

What did you enjoy most about your short course?

The short course was an amazing opportunity for me to rethink and develop my own style in what concerns decorating interiors.

What is it like studying in London? What has been your favourite discovery and/or experience?

Studying in London is great - there's definitely some sort of creative and inspirational atmosphere about it. During Interior Styling For Editorial And PR we also had the opportunity to explore London and get to know some of the best shops and places to visit in the city.

How has your short course benefited your career, education and/or personal development?

The short course has not only helped me in developing new styling skills but also personal skills. The whole experience of living and studying in a new, unknown and creative city, such as London, was just amazing!

What would you say to someone who is thinking about taking a short course at CSM?

I would definitely recommend taking a CSM short course to everyone because of the creative environment you get to work in, it’s very inspirational.

What do you believe is integral to the work of an artist/creative, in any discipline? And can you recommend a piece of art, in any medium, you feel everyone should see?

I believe that it is crucial for artists/creatives to have freedom. Freedom to deliver their messages to society through whatever means they wish to use.

I think a great example of this is Bordalo II’s Big Trash Animals.

What three words best describe your CSM Short Course experience?

Inspirational, great and creative.
