This week we chatted to Juan Jose Sanchez, who exhibited his designs in the Short Course Exhibition last year, after taking our Landscape Architecture - An Introduction Short Course. Here he shares his designs and talks about his experience of studying at Chelsea College of Arts.

Where are you currently based?
Madrid, Spain

What is your occupational background?
Architecture student

Which course did you study and why did you choose it?
Landscape Architecture. As an architecture student, I wanted to explore similar subjects. It let me explore land and city design.

What did you enjoy most about your course?
My tutor, Christina Gestra, was lovely! She has the right balance of theory and practical in the classroom.

How has this course benefitted your career and personal development?
I have widened my vision of architecture and urban environments.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about taking a short course Camberwell, Chelsea or Wimbledon Colleges of Arts?
I would encourage them to explore new subjects. The courses are really varied.

What do you believe is integral to the work of an artist or designer in any discipline?
Critical thinking should be the basis of any piece of design or artwork. This is a basic skill that any creative person should always keep in mind.

Dynamic, open-minded, inspirational
