Ashni joined UAL International Summer School for 16 - 18 year olds for 3 weeks during summer 2019. We chatted to her about her experiences on the course and how she feels this has benefited her - in terms of her work, her skills and meeting new friends.

What 3 words best describe your Short Course experience?
Adventurous, thought provoking and innovative.

What inspired you to take a short course(s) and what did you enjoy most about it?
One thing I enjoyed and most loved about this course was the variety of students present in it. I met students from all the corners of the world and some of them will stay as my friends for life.

How has your short course(s) benefited your career, education and/or personal development?
I developed as a person. In these 3 weeks it felt as if I found myself, my inner creativity came pouring out when we were asked to think out of the four walls. I came home with a sack full of learnings and memories.

Where are you planning to use your new creative skills?
I plan to take design as my subject in college and some of the works and the skills acquired would be very useful for my portfolio. We also got an insight about the contents of the portfolio which would enhance my portfolio more.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about taking a short course at Camberwell, Chelsea or Wimbledon Colleges of Arts?
It is worth if for the experience. I have made one of my best memories and some of the closest friends in this course .The different skills and techniques you learn and also the feedback from the tutors is indeed amazing.

What characteristics do you think are vital to becoming a successful artist/creative, in any discipline?
One of the most important characteristics are the observation skills, to have an eye for subjects around you and to be able to think out of the box.
