Connect with the industry

At London College of Fashion we benefit from exceptional links into the fashion industry that enhance the experience for our students.

We welcome a range of guest speakers and host panel discussions throughout the year to tackle key topics or enhance your learning on the course with real experiences. Recent speakers have included representatives from Alexander McQueen, Vogue, Burberry and ASOS. We also hold regular masterclasses where leading figures teach students key skills from the professional world.

Many of our courses invite leading brands to set live industry briefs and competitions, challenging our students to solve real issues facing their business with innovative and exciting ideas. Our students have designed accessories with Salomon, shoes with Russell & Bromley and delivered marketing campaigns for Farah to name just a few.

London College of Fashion students are exposed to the fashion industry from the start of their course and throughout, simulating real working environments and preparing them for life after graduation.

Build your professional experience

Gaining professional experience whilst you study is an amazing way to start building the skills employers are looking for during your studies.

Short work placements are an element of many of our courses, giving you the opportunity to experience working in the fashion industry first-hand, put your learning so far to work and network with professionals that could support you in the future.

Many of our undergraduate courses offer the option of a Diploma in Professional Studies. This additional year between your second and third year gives you the chance to undertake a work placement, or even start developing your own business idea, as part of your course and award you an additional qualification.

Another opportunity is to gain an additional qualification through UAL’s Creative Computing Institute. This is a great way to enhance your learning by becoming an Apple Developer or by building an understanding of computational technologies and how they underpin the creative industries.

As a student at LCF, you’ll benefit from a dedicated employability team, Graduate Futures, from the very beginning of your course. We are the only UAL college to have our own employability team, and as LCF is focussed entirely on fashion, our careers support is also geared towards preparing you for working in the industry.

Through Graduate Futures, you’ll be supported by people that have worked in the industry themselves and can help you with their wealth of experience. The team runs a range of invaluable support including one-to-one coaching, workshops on a range of topics, careers fairs, in-person and online events and much more.

The team have a network of relationships across the fashion industry globally. This ensures you hear from a range of alumni, brands and organisations and you also benefit from support in finding work placement opportunities, internships and when the time comes, graduate jobs.
