Coinciding with the launch of LCF's new East Bank campus, Designed for Life celebrates our decades-long dedication to using fashion and design as a force for positive change and social responsibility.

About the exhibition

Designed for Life celebrates LCF's decades-long dedication to using fashion and design as a force for positive change. The exhibition showcases the power of creativity to transform the world through a range of mixed media, including textiles, film, photography, artefacts, and personal case studies. Through these diverse forms, Designed for Life demonstrates how design and fashion can foster community cohesion, generate high-quality artistic content, provide employment and training opportunities, and support those who are seeking safety and rebuilding their lives after displacement.

Supplementing the show will be a series of events and interventions led by East London Art Prize shortlisted artists Alaa Alsaraji, Sophie Cunningham, and Woo Jin Joo, critically examining the idea of the institution as a civic space, practices of the fashion industry, and the relationships between storytelling, sustainability, and making.

Further details on featured exhibition objects and artists are to be released in summer 2023.
