The Fashion Product Design Semester at London College of Fashion (LCF) offers a series of units aimed at students wishing to develop their product and making skills in fashion drawing, craft / digital development, and creative communication to make inspired fashion for diverse market levels.

Course introduction

London College of Fashion enjoys a global reputation for its unique, specialist fashion design and product courses that challenge design preconceptions, trends and consumer’s needs. The programme reflects LCF's commitment to developing individual’s design ethos, and creativity, underpinned with contemporary cultures. Working across a variety of dynamic projects in 2D / 3D formats, students are empowered to apply skills and develop innovative ideas while fostering sustainability and ethical practices.

Academic requirements

Students applying for this course are expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent.

Portfolio

A portfolio of 5 images is required for this course. You will be sent an email after submitting your application, asking you to submit this.

Course details

During this intensive 13-week course you will:

  • experience studying Fashion Design here at London College of Fashion.
  • learn from tutors who are practicing in industry; benefit from access to specialist facilities at one of UAL’s six Colleges.
  • meet like-minded individuals from around the world.
  • get involved in UAL life through social events and activities.
  • All courses are assessed and you'll receive a record of study at the end of the programme if you wish to request credit from your home institution.

You will enrol on 3 mandatory units and then may select elective units, to total a maximum of 16 US credits / 64 UK credits / 32 ECTS. The semester is planned to be delivered primarily at London College of Fashion’s Stratford location. Teaching locations are subject to change. Individual student timetables will be shared during the course induction week.

  • Menswear Design (3 US credits / 12 UK credits / 6 ECTS)
  • Footwear Design (3 US credits / 12 UK credits / 6 ECTS)
  • Creative Visual Communication (3 US credits / 12 UK credits / 6 ECTS)
  • Fashion Styling (3 US credits / 12 UK credits / 6 ECTS)
  • Shoe Making (3 US credits / 12 UK credits / 6 ECTS)
  • Start a Fashion Label (2 US credits / 8 UK credits / 4 ECTS)
  • Fashion Drawing (2 US credits / 8 UK credits / 4 ECTS)
  • Wearable Technology (2 US credits / 8 UK credits / 4 ECTS)

Study Abroad Award

2 Study Abroad awards are available per term to students on our UAL Study Abroad Semester.

We are looking for students who will create social media content and blogs of their time with us as a Study Abroad Student. In exchange, you will receive one award of £2,000 to your bank account after going through enrolment.

Deadline: 15 May for the Autumn term and 31 October for the Spring term.
