To kick off the 24-25 academic year, London College of Fashion (LCF) collaborated with Farah to bring public attention to their historic presence with generations of subcultural movements.
In 1948 Farah introduced its first fashion line, fusing its knowledge of functional and hard-wearing clothing with the trends of that time and was quickly adopted by American youth and counter cultures. After cocreating a brief with BA (Hons) FDT: Menswear academic Rory Parnell-Mooney, Farah gave students access to “The Archive”, a collection of clothes carefully curated over years to showcase the rich history of the Farah brand. Menswear students used this and the subcultures Farah has been part of to design and make one outfit using their signature hopsack fabric. 35 Students presented designs to Farah’s Creative Director - Christopher O’Brien, Designer - Reece Clayton, Marketing Director - Mia Zackrisson and Senior Marketing Coordinator - Masie Cook. The team was impressed by the quality of the work throughout and selected Tobin Harland as the overall winner of the project. An exhibition was held to showcase the work.
