Become certified Carbon Literate this Earth Week, by completing an accredited training course open to all UAL students

As part of this year's Earth Week programme, we're pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for a number of UAL students to complete a full day's worth of accredited Carbon Literacy Training, gaining certification through the Carbon Literacy Project.

About Carbon Literacy

Carbon Literacy is a UN recognised initative and educational standard designed to equip learners with a foundational understanding of the role that enviromental impact assessment and carbon data can play in driving forward climate action.

Our course is taught by George Barker and Ozge Sahin, co-creators of Carboned Out! a board and card game which introduces the hidden emissions of every day products and processes in and beyond the creative sector. Over a day's learning, we explore emissions data in three contexts: at a global scale, at an organisational scale, and at a product level.

At the end of the course, learners are encouraged to develop and submit two pledges for action related to their life and practice. By taking this step, you can achieve certification as Carbon Literate.

About the day

This Carbon Literacy course will take place in person on Monday 20 April from 9:30-3:30pm, in the Platform Bar at Central Saint Martins. The course is open to all students currently enrolled at UAL.

On the day, we will be joined by members of the UAL Net Zero and Sustainability team, learning about and responding to a number of challenges related to our goal of decarbonising our University and reaching net zero emissions by 2040.

This course is organised as part of the Fault Lines Earth Week programme, which will run from 20-24 April throughout UAL. This course is supported by the UAL Climate Emergency Network.

Please note that you must be currently enrolled on a course at University of the Arts London in order to be able to join our course.
