Biography

Shuhan Zhou is a 2019 alumni from the Graduate Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology at London College of Fashion, and is currently studying on the MA Womenswear Fashion Design and Technology course.

What are your plans for the next few years? Where would you like to see yourself professionally?

After finishing my MA Womenswear course, I intend to go to China and start a PhD course in Design. I think I can learn more about fashion technology, which is quite important for a womenswear designer to make mature designs and research deeper into the area.

Why did you choose to study at LCF?

Because my BA tutor also graduated from LCF, and she was super encouraging, recommending me to apply for LCF fashion courses. And LCF have strong fashion connections and resources for students who want to be a designer in the fashion industry.

Why did you decide to study on the Graduate Diploma Fashion Design Technology?

I really wanted to study on MA Womenswear, but I knew nothing about the UK fashion study model, which is significantly different from the Chinese one. Thus, I thought this course may be a good choice for me to figure out the design thinking and design process.

What did you enjoy the most about your course?

Well, the whole course brought so much to me. I became confident to share, have ambition and communicate with others. My thinking model and practice skill have improved a lot. The most important thing is that I know how to be myself.

Best piece of advice you received from a lecturer/tutor during your time at LCF?

I think it could be my first project in my Graduate Diploma course. My tutors James and Tarang gave me plenty of suggestions about techniques or crazy ideas to enrich my narrative project.

What advice would you give to potential students who would like to enrol on this course?

Don't restrict yourself to what you already have - break the limitation.
