Biography

Dr Max Tookey is a Lecturer in Management, Psychology and Research Methods at the London College of Fashion. Max’s academic background is in Psychology and Social Science, having studied at the Universities of Oxford, Bath, Cardiff and the University of East Anglia. After working as an Occupational Psychologist, Max embarked on a career in academia, having held lecturing positions at University College Cork (Ireland), the University of Bath, the University of East Anglia (UEA), the University of the West of England (UWE), the University of Greenwich and the University of Brighton. He has extensive experience of teaching Research Methods, Organisational Behaviour, Social Psychology, the Psychology of Fashion and Consumer Insights, and has supervised numerous projects up to doctoral level. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has received various teaching awards, in addition to achieving a recognised qualification in counselling. In 2013 Max completed his PhD at UEA which focused on the Psychological Contracts of academic staff and has published in various peer-reviewed journals in the areas of career-related behaviour and ethical behaviour in the workplace. He is interested in developing research in the areas of organisational careers (including the creative industries) pedagogical approaches to higher education, ethics in the workplace and consumer behaviour. Currently, he is completing his second master’s degree in Academic Practice at UAL and is interested in supervising further doctoral projects.
