The Black and White Labs are ideal for students who want to explore experimental performance work and practice theatre stagecraft. It is also an ideal space for time-based media art. The labs are used for project-based course delivery and presentation of student work.
In terms of equipment we have a fixed lighting grid with 64 dimmable lighting circuits in the White Lab and 48 in the Black Lab. A selection of theatre lanterns and lighting desk; a PA system and audio mixer.
In these Laboratories, students have explored movement and dance, film and video projections and lighting and sound experimentation.
While any student is welcome to visit, our workshop is used primarily by students on the Performance Programme.
