Summit One: Chaos at the Museum – an annual series of international summits debating and reflecting on the rapid changes in exhibition design
Central Saint Martins, 25th-27th April 2014
Co-developed by Patricia Austin in collaboration with Prof. Tim McNeil University California Davis. The first summit in the international, design-centric series that examined what’s working and what’s not in the realm of designing for visitor participation in museums.
It explored how the designer’s role is changing from designing the display to the design of visitor experiences and participation. The summit included a first ever PhD Colloquium, a keynote from Elaine Heuman Gurian, presentations, discussions and hands-on workshops with over 25 leading academics and exhibition designers from Germany, France, Italy, India and the UK and an MA student congress where students from CSM and Corcoran college of Arts and Design shared their projects.
