Darragh Casey MA Design: Furniture, Shelf Portraits, photograph, 2012
A highly performative collection of furniture, Casey’s Shelf Portraits offer an alternative way of capturing an individual. Shelving the physical individuals alongside their chosen possessions draws a connection between who we are and what we possess, while on another level subverts the shelf as it wholly accommodates the user. Casey took Shelf Portraits of three generations of his family; here, he hangs left alongside to his brothers.
