Smartcards and building access

Building Access

Children and Visitors

Unfortunately, we cannot accomodate children under 16 years old at the college, exept in exceptional circumstances. Please contact reception for more information: 020 7514 7444.

We are also unable to accomodate visitors for students, except those associated with your course. Your Course Leader must give permission for external visitors. Please collect a Visitor Access Form from the Student Centre and have this signed by your Course Leader. Once this is completed, please hand it into reception, who will arrange a visitor pass for your guest.

Animals cannot be accommodated on site, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Disabled Access and Facilities

All areas of the King's Cross building are accessible to wheelchair users. There are disabled access toilets on all floors and washing facilities are avaliable in the Medical Room on the ground floor. There are several disabled parking bays for blue badge holders avaliable - badges must be displayed at all times and the University cannot accept responsibility for any damage to or theft of/from vehicles.

Smartcards

All students are issued with a Smartcard which is preprogramed to give you entry to the King's Cross and Archway campuses as well as specific areas relating to your course. These Smartcards also operate the student lockers, so keep it with you at all times.

Please note that CSM operates a strict no card, no entry policy.

If you lose or forget your card, you will need to order a new one. New cards cost £5.00 and can be ordered via the E-Store and collected from the Student Centre. If your card is damaged, please bring it to the Student Centre and you will be issued with a free replacement. If your card is stolen, please present a Police Crime Number to the Student Centre, who will issue you a new card.

New cards can take up to 20 minutes to activate after printing. To activate your new card, place it on the entry barriers at King's Cross until the gates open. Pass through the gate and use the card to come back in. If you also have a locker, come to the Student Centre and ask a member of staff to help you reset your locker to the new card.
