Dr Noemi Sadowska is the Programme Director for Branding and Design Innovation and a design management educator at London College of Communication. Alongside her leadership responsibilities, Noemi teaches reflective writing and strategic design and is a dissertation supervisor.

Noemi’s qualifications include a BA in Fine Art (major in Jewellery and minor in Art History), a BA in Design (Visual Communication), an MA in Design Futures and a PhD in Design Studies. Her experience within the creative industries includes layout design at Le Monitor Architecture, Paris, France; design communication at Transparent, Kiel, Germany and launching her own visual communication design studio in London, UK.

Noemi's teaching career began at Goldsmiths, University of London, followed by a longstanding engagement as Programme Director at Regent’s University London, before starting her current role at London College of Communication.

Noemi has extensive experience in Higher Education curriculum delivery, development and course launch. She teaches in areas of academic practice including innovation and change management, sustainability, and strategic design management.

In particular, Noemi investigates the impact and influence of decisions that learners make when responding to a design brief. The aim of these investigations is to help develop methods to support teaching staff in becoming better facilitators of learning and teaching in the context of Higher Education.

Noemi’s involvement in curriculum design and course development includes chairing validation panels, contributing as a revalidation panel member, chairing the development team and contributing as a course team member. Noemi develops a broad range of subject curriculums from art direction and virtual reality courses, to global management and academic practice, across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Most recently she led the validation of MA Design for Social Innovation and Sustainable Futures.

Noemi is an active researcher, exploring methodologies stemming from design thinking in order to engage learners more proactively with their studies. She explores how learners manage risk and change in their learning environment and what strategies can be developed from both design management practice and theory to prompt transformational learning.

These themes have resulted in her latest project, which investigates how to facilitate design students’ sustainable choices and design decision-making, through learning and teaching, leading them to become responsible design practitioners.

Noemi has contributed to numerous conferences, most notably as a keynote speaker in 2016 in Budapest, Hungary at 30th Annual Businet Conference: Boundaries of Unfamiliar Learning Experiences in the Innovation Journey in Business Management Education.

Her work has been published as part of 01.AKAD, Sweden; Handbook of Research on Social Interaction Technologies and Collaboration Software: Concepts and Trends, UK, the Encyclopedia of Gender and Information Technology, USA and most recently in The Design Journal, UK.

Noemi is a member of European Academy of Design, British Academy of Management and a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
