Wayfinding at Elephant and Castle

LCC students were invited to work on a temporary wayfinding signage solution to help pedestrians move more easily around the Elephant and Castle area.

Working with key redevelopment stakeholders – Central, Delancey, Lend Lease and Southwark Council –  BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design students created a new wayfinding approach that was flexible and easily adaptable to the local area.

Following an exhibition of the students’ work and public consideration via social media, four finalists were selected to present their concepts to the stakeholders. Samuel Morley's work was selected as his submission best fit the brief.

“Working with London College of Communication has brought into focus the creative spirit of Elephant and Castle. The opportunity to combine student ingenuity with the needs of local businesses and residents has been both rewarding and inspiring.” Pat Brown, Director at Central.
