Branding Southwark Creates

Southwark Creates is a Southwark Council programme to provides a borough-wide package of support including affordable workspace, business support and talent development opportunities to enable artists, producers and other creative small businesses to thrive and grow.

Southwark Council wanted a brand for the programme that reflected the diversity of creative businesses and entrepreneurs in the borough. They turned to London College of Communication BA (Hons) Graphic Branding and Identity graduate Lauryn Raymond to design the new branding.

Lauryn started with research, visiting creative businesses around Southwark and taking photos of the surrounding area. She used these to create patterns for posters, flyers and the website with each pattern based on a feature of the Southwark landscape. Lauryn made icons for the different types of support Southwark Creates offers, and created a guide on how to apply the branding across digital and print.

Jen Moore, Senior Culture Manager, at Southwark Council said “a huge thank you from us all for the incredible work you put into the Southwark Creates branding. We are all delighted with the outcome, and looking forward to seeing it applied.”
