Interview

Why did you choose to study BA (Hons) Advertising and why London College of Communication?

I am from Sweden but I have lived in London before so I already knew a bit about UAL. When I later got more serious about continuing my studies within the media and communications area, I had very few options in Sweden. What made me choose LCC is that you’re encouraged to explore your own creativity.

What important piece of advice would you give to students thinking of studying this course?

Be ready to be creative on the spot, advertising is all about having "the idea". To get to that big idea you need to work through 100 other ideas and break it down. It is hard at first but you learn how to trust your instincts and how you should think when creating an ad.

Can you tell us a little bit about what you’re working on at the moment?

Right now, we are in the middle of hand-ins so we have a lot to do! We are producing a lot of advertising videos and print ads and also some essays. It is a bit stressful to

Putting everything together can be a little stressful, however, we have worked on our projects a lot in class with the support from our tutors, which helps keep us on the right path.

How have you found living in London so far, and where’s your favourite place to explore?

I love London, ever since I left two years ago I been wishing to move back some day. My favourite spot is definitely Mare Street Market in London Fields. I go there at least two times a week to drink some coffee, study for hours and eat amazing pumpkin gnocchi - when I can afford it!

What has been the highlight of your first term at London College of Communication so far?

Handing in my first work and feeling that I actually have learned a lot. I’m proud of what I have already been able to achieve.
