James Macdonald – Dean Of Academic Development & Quality
James's background is as an academic lawyer, including expertise in aspects of media law. He has extensive teaching experience across all academic levels and different types of provision, and has won an award for excellence in the facilitation of learning.
James has also previously served in many subject, programme and course leadership roles, and undertaken a range of other academic management duties.
James’s current leadership responsibilities at London College of Communication include:
- development of the college’s academic policies and procedures
- development and enhancement of learning and teaching, including digital learning and academic support, and activities to enhance the broader student experience
- progression, widening participation and diversity initiatives
- staff development provision
Prior to commencing at LCC in March 2013, James was Head of Student Learning Experience and Quality at the University of Bath. He has also worked at the universities of Sussex, Brighton and Bournemouth.
