3D model making is an essential part of visualising ideas in spatial and interior design and architecture. It complements CAD models to help clients better understand the spatiality of design proposals. Model making is also a useful tool in experimentation and design development as it allows the designer to test their ideas in 3 dimensions in addition to their drawings.

Students will be introduced to a variety of model-making techniques, materials, hand held tools and power tools. Participants will learn to create professional looking models that best communicate their design ideas.

Tutor information

Mari Lember is a BA (Hons) Interior Design graduate from LCC, working as a visiting lecturer on the BA (Hons) Interior Design and FdA Interior Design courses at LCC and as a freelance Vectorworks tutor and visualizer. She is interested in how design and visual culture can be engaged in areas such as sustainability, alternative social movements and orders and social well-being.
