Biography

I am a multidisciplinary artist whose practice traverses writing, fashion, costume and now sound.  I like to challenge notions of the self and the culture we inhabit.

I started as an on-schedule designer at London Fashion Week.  I graduated from Central Saint Martins MA Fashion in 2007 through the teachings of Professor Louise Wilson OBE.  I immediately went on to be awarded Fashion East, NEWGEN.  I sold my collections internationally, and completed many collaborations, including the first with The Smiley Company, Barbie, Stephen Jones, Pollini and Nicholas Kirkwood.

I continued to collaborate and consult extensively with numerous artists and designers, including on Orpheus and Eurydice at the English National Opera directed by Wayne MacGregor.  I also designed for Linder Sterling’s BOWER OF BLISS costume design interactions shown at:  Chatsworth House; The Women’s Library, Glasgow; The Design Museum, London, Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge; Cooper Gallery, Dundee; and the Liverpool Biennial.  My most recent collaborations have been with WET MESS and Dani Spooner, as well as a fashion ideation for the opening of The Cosmic House as a museum for postmodern architecture by Charles and Maggie Jencks.

The most memorable collaborations for me have been with Nasir Mazhar and the late great Judy Blame.

I am part of FANTASTIC TOILES, a London based fashion outlet by Nasir Mazhar, which is now in its fourth year.

In early 2023 I showed a new body of work named HOW YOU ACT HAS POWER as part of Hold Fast, in Copeland Gallery, Peckham, London.  I showed new textiles, costume and written works as well as sound pieces for the performances.

This year I co-founded a DIY record label with BABYXDADDY to release our own music, and those of queer others called ADRENALINE DARLING RECORDS.

Archive pieces from my London Fashion Week collection UP YOUR LOOK are currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee as part of the TARTAN exhibition which includes a year-long 10 metre installation work titled USE YOUR VOICE.

Archive pieces from GET SOME STUFF and Louise Gray for Topshop make-up are in REBEL: 30 YEARS OF LONDON FASHION currently at the Design Museum, London.
