Students and alumni of London College of Communication’s BA (Hons) and MA Games Design courses exhibited games at the V&A’s ‘Making Play’ Friday Late.

Games enthusiasts turned up in their hundreds to attend the fun-filled event at the prestigious central London museum’s event, with 14 games designed and made by 20 students and alumni of both BA (Hons) Games Design and MA Games Design amongst the games on offer to the public. The event was organised alongside Parallel Worlds 2017, a video game design conference put together by the V&A in collaboration with LCC.

Dr David King, Course Leader for MA Games Design at LCC, reports back on the experience…

“Being part of the V&A Making Play event was a fantastic opportunity for us to show games from both the BA (Hons) Games Design and the MA Games Design courses. Seeing the juxtaposition of the games with the art and artefacts of the museum displays was fascinating.

All the games take a lot of work to make, and even when the game looks complete there is always more work to do, to make them suitable for exhibition spaces. All the students involved put in that extra work, and it really showed on the night.

The students were fortunate to show their games to such a broad range of the public and get that all important feedback on their projects. It was also a chance for them to meet and work with alumni from the courses who were also showing their games.

We all had a great time, and saw many different projects from many different places. We certainly look forward to any future collaborations with the V&A.
