London Plus is a charity that works to empower community groups and other charities across London and make them stronger, inclusive and resilient. They wanted to raise awareness for their initiative London Communities Emergencies Partnership (LCEP), which mobilises organisations across London before, during and after an emergency, and they reached out to London College of Communication (LCC) to support this through visual communication.

BA (Hons) Animation and MA Music Production students worked on this brief to create 2 animated films and 2 soundtracks accompanying them. The first film aimed to build awareness for LCEP and the second film explored the wider resilience and emergency structures in London and how LCEP fits into that. Following a workshop led by the LCEP team to ensure the students fully understood the organisation and resilience structures in London, the students submitted concept art proposals.

Natália Bednárová’s proposal was selected, and she led the student team to produce the 2 animated films with accompanying soundtracks produced by Diego Garcia Martin and voiced by Caitlin Macdonald. LCEP have now uploaded the videos on their website , on their Youtube channel and on their social media pages. LCEP will also use them during presentations with stakeholders as a great way to explain what their project is and how it fits in with the wider system they work in.

It was great to work with the LCC students, they skillfully managed to turn something which is quite complicated into informative and easy to understand videos which fit our brand and tone of voice.

Working with a client but under the guidance of a UAL representative and my course lecturer was very helpful and set me up for any future freelance projects I will undertake. It is also an amazing addition to my portfolio since it's a public project in the industry.
