Self-care in the time of Covid

Self-care in the time of Covid

28 April 2020, Online event

When the Creative Practices, Education and Wellbeing Research Network first met in March 2019 we asked participants to share what issues were important to them. One of the key themes to emerge was the need to explore how academic staff and those engaging with students could be better supported to support others. This has become more important than ever during the past year, when our community at UAL has been stretched to its limits professionally and personally.

This event addressed what self-care measures we can implement when negotiating tricky territories in difficult times and how we can support students doing the same. We hear about the UAL Wellbeing Action Plan and what the university’s Counselling and Health Advice Service can offer students who are struggling with mental health issues. Amberlee Green discusses the complexities of balancing inspiration and exhaustion in a research context, and Maria Walsh explores self-care and toxicity and introduces her new book.
