Ceramics

Dedicated workshops for high quality craft-based and  industrial production. Facilities include kilns, print, glaze and plaster areas, substantial bench space, a 3D printer and space for hand work, sketch modelling and 2D sketch development work.

Jewellery

Workshops equipped for high quality craft and industrial jewellery production. Facilities include traditional and digital jewellery making equipment, substantial bench space and breakout space for hand work, sketch modelling and 2D sketch development work.

What can I do here?

  • Hammering, forging and forming of sheet metals.
  • Casting, mold making and general metal casting, wax injection, acrylic forming and wax soldering.
  • Laser cutting, laser welding and 3D printing.
  • Etching, patternation, lapping.
  • Enamelling.
  • Soldering, pickling and annealing.
  • Cleaning and polishing.
  • Milling, spinning, drilling, finishing and lathing.

Casting workshop

Carry out a range of molding and casting activities, with substantial bench space and casting materials at wholesale prices for students.

  • Plaster casting and mold-making.
  • Resin casting.
  • Silicone casting and mold-making.
  • Jesmonite casting.
  • Wax casting.
  • Alginate mold-making.

Paint/surface

An open access workshop for developing mixed media painting processes and techniques, paint finishes and spray finishes. It has individual spray booths and a large table for stretching and priming canvases and preparing supports.

3D large spray booth facility

  • Conventional painting methods associated with oil, watercolour and acrylic paints.
  • Mixed media painting and processes including photo mounting and image transfer.
  • Paint making and mixing.
  • Canvas and paper stretching and preparation for painting supports and grounds.
  • Spray painting with aerosols, gravity guns and airbrushes
  • Wood, metal and plastics finishing and special effects processes.
