James Beatham, XD pathway graduate, was awarded the runner up prize for Nova 2013.
CSM’s Nova nominees are put forward by their Course Leaders and represent the best talent across the degree shows. Here, James provides an insight into the work which earned him the runner up prize.
Proposed Solo Show
James explores the relationship between the real and the virtual and how they interact with each other, as well as the connection between science fiction and Futurism and how fictional accounts of things can alter people’s perception. Part one of the project consists of a virtual tour of a solo show of the artist’s own work in the future created using Google “Sketch-up”, creating a virtual video tour of the gallery. The parallel piece, part 2, consists of a physical model of the same idea providing a real life exploration of the same idea.
