I am an art and design educator with a focus on creative digital pedagogies. I am committed to enabling students explore creative disciplines and practices and develop their confidence and skills through a creative education.
I grew up in London and graduated from Central Saint Martins before working in the design industry as project manager and freelancer alongside my early teaching career. The experience of supporting professional artists, designers and architects to realise ideas still motivates me to help my students develop the knowledge, organisational and communication skills that the creative industries require. At UAL I have taught Design, with a focus on material practices, and Contextual Practice. I have worked in many different university areas including Academic Support, Outreach, Short Courses and International development.
My research relates to student experience and the unique educational environment of the 21st century art school, as experienced by students and the staff who teach them. I am currently exploring the motivations that shape creative arts pedagogies; finding the connection between residential and distance online teaching lies in shared motivations to inspire, and support our students as individuals.
Currently I am Head of Education Design and Development in UAL Online. My work is focussed on designing flexible, proactively inclusive and fully online postgraduate courses, bringing a UAL creative arts education to a widened audience. I am also a Senior Moderator for the UAL Awarding body.
