Biography

My name is Anna Hwang and I was born in South Korea, but my family migrated to Toronto, Canada when I was eight years old. I lived in Toronto until I finished my high school. Then, I decided to move to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion industry. I got my Bachelor's degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I did a lot of internships in New York at Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Christian Louboutin, and Yves Saint Laurent.

As soon as I graduated, I moved to Shanghai, China to be a part of a multi-brand ecommerce start up. I was the creative director of the company and I gained experience as a buyer as well as an understanding of the Chinese market. When I went buying in Paris in 2015, I got the opportunity to meet my current boss and I started out as a buyer for his brick and mortar multi-brand store in China. Then suddenly in March of this year, I was given a task of creating a small capsule collection in two and a half weeks, meaning I had to finish designing, development, production, to in-store in two and a half weeks. Everyone thought it was a suicide mission, but miraculously, I had a very strong team and we managed to finish the task on time. Since then, I have become the new Creative Director of my brand called D-ID, which is currently sold in 20 stores in Sweden and two stores in China. In September, we had a marketing campaign distributed throughout Sweden’s metro, magazines, bus, train, and TV. We hope to grow globally in the future, and I have a strong interest in a collaboration with innovative tech companies.
