Biography

Tokyo-born and London-based, I am an architectural designer, educator and researcher exploring the intersection of architecture and anthropology. My research examines how culture and environment shape spatial perception and how these perspectives inform architectural methodology and ethics.

After graduating, I assisted the architectural photographer Hélène Binet. My photographic work was exhibited in the main galleries of the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale, Common Ground.

In 2007, I became a founding member of Asif Khan Studio in London. Over more than a decade, I contributed to internationally recognised public architecture competitions and projects, including proposals for the London 2012 Coca-Cola Pavilion, the Guggenheim Helsinki Museum and the New Museum of London.

Alongside practice, I have taught internationally for over fifteen years. My roles include teaching in the BA Architecture programme at Central Saint Martins and leading the UK–Japan architectural exchange programme with Kogakuin University. I also directed the Drawing Matter Architectural Drawing Summer School, mentoring students and architecture tutors.

I am currently undertaking the UAL Academic Practice Programme and work within an international architectural design collective with HERE Tokyo and TGA Architects & Partners.
