I am a registered architect, educator and co-founder of bioMATTERS based in New York City. My research and practice operate in-between the human body and architectural scale and engage topics pertaining to biotechnology, digital fabrication, interactive design and data visualisation.

My work has been exhibited internationally at various venues including “Fashion Digital Night” for Milano Fashion Week 2019, Lisbon Architecture Triennale, Istanbul Design Biennale, EYEBEAM NY, The Today Art Museum, China, GAA Foundation, Reshape FORUM Wearable Technology Exhibition, MILAN EXPO 2015, ISEA, Dislocate Japan, Cornell University and Lousal Mining Museum Center for Living Science, Portugal. I co-curate exhibitions, symposia and workshops internationally, some include “Artificial Realities – Virtual as an Aesthetic Medium in Architectural Ideation” an exhibition and symposium for the Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2019, and the "Data & Matter" exhibition at the GAA Foundation in Venice as a parallel event of the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.

I have received several grants and fellowships namely from New York State Council on the Arts/Storefront, MacDowell Colony, EYEBEAM, Arctic Circle, US, Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, Korea, FCT The Foundation for Science and Technology, Portugal, and Xi'an Jiatotong-Liverpool University.

I am Course Leader of the MA in Biodesign at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Previously I was the Director of the Building Sciences program, and faculty member at Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. I am an affiliated researcher at ISTAR Information Sciences, Technologies and Architecture Research Center, Digital Living Spaces Lab, ISCTE, Lisbon Portugal and at WSNL Wireless Sensor Network Lab, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University XJTLU, Suzhou, China. I hold a Bachelor of Architecture from Lusiada University, Portugal and a Masters and a PhD from the Bartlett Graduate School, UCL, UK. I am also the co-director of the Institute for Advanced Architecture Catalonia (IaaC) New York Global Summer School.
