At Central Saint Martins, I am a Lecturer on the MA Design for Industry 5.0 and a Specialist Technician for Creative Coding and Web Technologies, co-running the Physical Computing Lab.
My background is in Computational Arts with technical specialisms in embedded electronics, electronic fabrication, network technologies and artificial intelligence.
My practice-based research centers around contemporary relationships to the land and commoning practices, with particular focus on how digital and network technologies can contribute to contemporary commons through local-first technologies.
Recently, I completed a solo commission for fermynwoods Contemporary Art and Northampton Council titled 30 Days. This piece is an interactive media work with a custom solar-powered e-paper sign post and camera, both developed following regenerative technology principles, inviting users of the park to contribute to a growing 360 image of the landscape.
I contribute to discourse and practice about permacomputing through the London Permacomputing Club and the international community of practice. I developed a camera for educating people about digital materiality and permacomputing, called the permacam, through a research residency with the Sustainable Darkroom and the University of Leeds. Recently, I was invited to give a talk on permacomputing and image-making at the Tromø Center for Contemporary Art.
Currently, I am working with Platform London, practically exploring the potential of digital twins for community housing projects. I am also a member of the Technologies in Question research community of practice at the University of Arts London.
