Kate Gibb's Abstract print

Screenprint panel with bright colours and architectural motifs
Abstract print, Kate Gibb, 1990s

Abstract print, Kate Gibb MA Textiles, screenprint on stretched latex, 1990s

Gibb – a self-confessed “silkscreen obsessive” – creates layered images dense with the tactility of the printing process. The feel of ink and paint are conspicuous in these colourful collages. For Gibb, process is key in welcoming chance and harnessing happy accidents.

This square latex piece prefigures her work for her first commission upon graduating designing record covers for the band Mono. A year later, she would be designing the cover for The Chemical Brothers Surrender album, the first of many collaborations.
