“I am delighted to return to Central Saint Martins to address the urgent challenges of social justice and anti-racism at the heart of its mission. Working with colleagues and students, I am excited to be part of the ambitious plans to reflect, re-engage and build transdisciplinary and transformative experiences in art and design education that value all aspects of what it means to be human.”
Dr Rathna Ramanathan

"Rathna comes to Central Saint Martins with a distinguished academic career and an international practice. Central to her research in intercultural communication is the focus on marginalised communities and taking a decolonial approach to communication practices. Rathna is the lead designer for the prestigious Murty Classical Library project at Harvard University. She is also an inspiring academic who is known for her dedication to students and collaborative leadership. All of Rathna’s work is underpinned by a commitment to social justice, which aligns closely with the priorities of Central Saint Martins and UAL."
Jeremy Till, Head of Central Saint Martins

As well as her appointment as Dean of Academic Strategy, Dr Rathna Ramanathan will also take on the role of Reader in Intercultural Communication at UAL. She will join the College in January 2021.
