Granary Square and the Crossing at Central Saint Martins: 3 May to 2 June

NuMoment is a temporary monument, hangout space and stage, welcoming young and emerging talent in music, dance and performance from King’s Cross, Camden and London-wide. Based in the Crossing at Central Saint Martins and Granary Square from 3 May to 2 June, drop by and visit or sign up for an exciting line-up of related events happening in May.

The installation honours the hidden artistic histories of King’s Cross, referencing the rave and clubbing scene of the 80’s and 90’s, when the area became a landmark for the production of cutting-edge sounds and free parties.

NuMoment is there for everyone in the King’s Cross community. It can be a space to convene or to showcase performances, a place for pop-up acts, reading and discussion groups or just to sit and meet and have lunch. If you would like to host an activation, please complete this form.

Creating sonic links across time, a related ‘sound collage’ combines archival sounds, interviews, music samples, field recording and sound experimentations. Created by local broadcaster Voices Radio, it features past, present and future ‘Nu’ artistic scenes that have formed around music, dance and performance in the neighbourhood.

NuMoment is the culmination of the first King’s Cross and Central Saint Martins Artist-In-Residence, led by design collective The Decorators, in collaboration with members of the social enterprise FishTank and students and graduates from CSM Spatial Practices, and others.
