Sir Mick Jagger is donating a three-year scholarship programme in memory of L’Wren Scott. The funding opportunity will be open to MA Fashion students at Central Saint Martins.

Designer L’Wren Scott’s collections were cut and finished with a skilled eye for detail and craftsmanship. In this she and the late Professor Louise Wilson OBE – course director of MA Fashion for 20 years – found common ground. They met at the British Fashion Awards and L’Wren was impressed with Louise’s commitment to excellence and her dedication to fashion education.

Sadly both these remarkable women died in 2014 – but each leaves a legacy that will benefit the students of MA Fashion, and through them the fashion industry. The award will be for one student each year. It will cover fees for the duration of the course and a contribution to their living costs.

Fabio Piras, Course Director of MA Fashion, says: “I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L’Wren Scott’s name. Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard while they are here. I am very proud of the fact that this course, through its alumni, continues to be recognised as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry.”

The L’Wren Scott Scholarship will be given to an incoming student in 2015, 2016 and 2017. We will be publishing details on our scholarship page shortly.
