“…each and every member of CSM’s Class of 2016 deserves a piece of that prize. Remember their names, the future belongs to them.” – Steve Salter, i-d.vice.com
Friday evening saw our MA Fashion students take to the catwalk to reveal their collections on schedule at London Fashion Week. Supported by L’Oréal Professionnel, the show, which took place at the British Fashion Council’s show space, attracted a host of high profile guests, national and international press and industry to watch the 16 distinct and individual collections on the catwalk.
Judged by Tank magazine’s Tamsin Blanchard, the prestigious L’Oréal Professionnel Creative Award was spilt between joint winners, menswear designers, Harry Evans and John Alexander Skelton.
The starting point for my collection was a feeling of there being a gap or a lack for really new and original menswear in the industry, or a lack of representation of someone like myself. So often menswear simply rotates formulaic elements and inspirations, I wanted to show that I could create fashion for men that avoided typical references.

The investment of a personality and the evidence of the hand is an imperative notion throughout my work from hand spun, hand woven wools that are naturally finished to the yarn of rare breeds of British Sheep for knitwear.
– John Alexander Skelton
MA Fashion alumni showing at London Fashion Week also included Alexander McQueen, Faustine Steinmetz, Marques Almeida, Christopher Kane, Roksanda, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Gareth Pugh, Mary Katrantzou and J JS Lee.
Congratulations to all the students involved, Course Director Fabio Piras and the staff of MA Fashion, and many thanks to our sponsor L’Oréal Professionel. View the gallery below to view images from each collection.
