Designers and fashion insiders came together last night for The Louise Wilson Fund Gala at the May Fair Hotel.

The official launch of the Louise Wilson MA Fashion Fund, in memory of the pioneering fashion educator, Professor Louise Wilson OBE who led the course to international prominence from 1992 to 2014, was attended by prominent members of the fashion industry, influencers, patrons, donors and alumni including Christopher Kane, Roksanda Ilincic, Simone Rocha, Timur Kim, Todd Lynn, LVMH Graduate Prize winner 2015 Matty Bovan, Beth Postle, Charles Jeffrey.

By supporting the course the fund will enhance the future of an educational environment with an unrivalled record for sending the best professional talent into the international fashion industry.  It is dedicated to giving talented students, regardless of background, the life changing opportunities afforded by an outstanding creative education.

MA Fashion Course Director, Fabio Piras introduced three speakers, Simon Ward, CEO of British Fashion Council remembered Louise Wilson first pitching the idea of the course becoming part of the London Fashion Week Schedule:

For Louise being on the schedule was for the furtherance of students and careers not for the college and the BFC is delighted to be a part of the support for the students she was so passionate about.

Head of Central Saint Martins and Pro Vice Chancellor of University of the Arts London, Professor Jeremy Till said:

As the best fashion course in the world, as evidenced by the alumni, shows and staff, it helps the industry stay vibrant both economically and creatively.  We carry on her commitment to stay the best in the world.

Sarah Mower MBE, fashion journalist, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and great friend and supporter of Louise and the course:

The lights were going out in London Fashion Week until Louise Wilson started sending her students out into the firmament … sending a whole generation of designers to every major fashion house in Paris.

Inderneel Singh, General Manager of The May Fair Hotel:

The May Fair sits at the heart of the fashion industry and every year welcomes the world’s fashion elite as the Official Hotel of London Fashion Week. We are extremely proud to support such a worthy and important cause as the Louise Wilson MA Fashion Fund and hope that the evening will prove very successful in continuing the fantastic work undertaken by Louise throughout her lifetime”.

Fabio Piras, Programme Director for MA Fashion:

It is wonderful to see our loyal supporters and great friends such as Jean Fang and Ian Hardie take time to join us for the Launch.  It is through these partnerships that our students flourish and help create a buoyant and fresh industry.  I look forward to new opportunities arising with the help of The Louise Wilson MA Fashion Fund.”
