The Postgraduate Art Auction celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with generous donations by some of the UK’s most prestigious artists.
New work donated by Raqib Shaw, Grayson Perry, Yinka Shonibare, Cathy Lomax, Antony Gormley and many more friends and alumni of the Fine Art Programme will make up the Live Auction on 17 November. Alongside that, there is a Silent Auction comprising work by current second year students from MA Art and Science, MA Fine Art, and MA Photography offering the opportunity to purchase work of artists on the cusp of their careers, with undoubtedly a few Turner Prize winners among them.
For collectors, both budding and seasoned, the auction offers an opportunity to purchase pieces by celebrated artists that don’t come onto the market often, to discover emerging artists before anyone else. The Postgraduate Art Auction is unique within the art world for presenting the ecology of the market in microcosm in a format in which everyone gains. May the generosity that supports it long continue.
Alex Schady, Fine Art Programme Leader
All proceeds from the auction support the Postgraduate Fine Art Programme and for the first time in its decade of outings, the auction lots will be on show for a week, 10-17 November, in the Lethaby Gallery for the run up to the night itself.
