The Panarmonion bar and stage on Lewis Cubitt square was a big highlight of the summer in King’s Cross. One of the stand-out events was BirdGang Dance Company’s Deja Bluez.
The production featured a fictional Harlem speakeasy, mixing contemporary hip hop, burlesque and Victorian vaudeville.
Cherrie Lau and Denisa Dumitrescu – graduates of our BA Performance, Design and Practice course – created the set. Merging the feel of a Victorian pleasure garden with a Harlem club, it incorporating decorated CDs, feathers and fabrics. LCF Costume Design graduate Sasha Lu used sequins and beads to turn the singer’s dress into a constantly changing spectacle.
For the project Central Saint Martins collaborated with Argent, who commissioned the stage and bar.
