Visitors to this year’s Catlin Art Prize exhibition have selected our MA Photography alumna Lara Morrell as their favourite artist. Over 2,000 votes were cast at the venue and online.

Morrell’s photographic series ‘Christ Stopped at Novoli’ is the culmination of a two year project. The work is inspired by the Catholic customs and religious festivals she experienced while living in the remote village of Novoli, southern Italy. Morrell’s images depict headless figures built from hay, string and found objects gathered from the land. As winner of the Visitor Vote, she will take away £2,000 in prize money.

The Catlin Art Prize exhibition remains open to the public until 24 May at the Londonewcastle Project Space, London. At 5pm this Saturday (17 May), fellow Central Saint Martins graduate Sarah Fortais will perform a five-person drumming performance at the venue. The show, entitled ‘Rocket Launch’, will complete her Catlin Art Prize entry ‘1 2 3 Unfinished’.
