Following the immensely successful The Fashion Resource Book, Thames and Hudson is publishing The Fashion Resource Book: Men by Associate Lecturer Robert Leach.

A comprehensive guide to the process of visual research for men’s fashion design, it shows today’s designers how helpful and relevant the history of clothing and fashion is to their work. The book provides practical guidance in formulating innovative ideas. There are three CSM menswear graduates, and various alumn- featured in the book. The Fashion Resource Book was foreworded by Shelley fox, a CSM alumnus.

Robert Leach is a senior lecturer at the University of Westminster as well as an associate lecturer at CSM. He said of his new book “This is my second book on the subject of research for design.  I’m sure I speak for fashion academics everywhere when I say that solid research is at the heart of any successful design process.

My first book, The Fashion Resource Book, published by Thames & Hudson, was conceived as a ‘sexy’ text book- highly illustrated and hopefully inspiring, of a useful size and at a reasonable price for students. It has sold very well worldwide, including a Japanese translation, and is on reading lists of fashion colleges across the globe. It has also, I’m pleased to say, crossed over into the gift book market, being stocked worldwide by Urban Outfitters and is for sale in practically every museum and gallery shop.

The second book  focuses on menswear. It was conceived as a companion to the first, and to capitalise on the burgeoning menswear scene that we’ve seen, particularly in London, over the last couple of years, as well as on the success of the first book.”

The Fashion Resource Book: Men launch will take place in the Fyvie Hall, University of Westminster, from 6pm on 21 March.
